In addition to the Produce Safety Rule some growers may elect to subject their operations to voluntary audits which may open them to new buyers and markets. Some buyers and markets want to see third-party audits of their growers. These audits can verify that fresh fruits and vegetables are safely grown, harvested, packed, and held to minimize risks of microbial food safety hazards.
Several certifications are offered by agencies and private companies. Audits be specifically requested by buyers. The list below does not suggest endorsement and is provided for illustrative purposes.
